Weber named newest Predators captain.

Defenseman Shea Weber was last night named the newest captain of the Nashville Predators. Weber, who’s been a part of the Predators organisation since his draft year of 2003, was widely believed to be the shoe-in choice following the trade of former captain Jason Arnott to the New Jersey Devils last month.

Weber has forged one of the league’s more underrated blueline pairings alongside partner Ryan Suter, and with the captaincy sure to spur the former Kelowna Rockets standout on yet further, it’ll be extremely interesting to see the immediate impact of his leadership over the coming months.
